Wow! What an opportunity for us to stand out in the sport. The teams are ready to go! The games are only 20 minutes long so there won't be very many opportunities and mistakes can be costly. The Maryland State Youth Soccer Association announces the 2nd Annual Indoor Cup on December 29 and 30, 2007 at the Discovery Sports Center, Boyds, MD.
The tournament is open to recreational and competitive teams in the following age groups: U9/U10, U11/U12, U13/U14 and U15/U16 boys and girls.

Midfielder Living Up to Pele's Legendary Number

For any Brazilian soccer player, the number 10 jersey hangs heavy with the weight of history. After all, it was the number worn by soccer legend Pele, as well as women's star Sissi.

But the player wearing number 10 for Brazil in this year's Women's World Cup, 17-year-old midfielder Marta, would rather not dwell on the past.

"I'm playing with 10, it could be 11," she said after her team defeated Norway, 4-1, last night at RFK Stadium. "People say I'm very young to wear number 10, but I feel comfortable with it."

Maryland Futsal is proud and honored to have numerous extremely talented Professional Futsal Training Instructors.

Maryland Futsal Instructors have many years of Professional Futsal playing and coaching experience. They have all played at the highest level. Lee Tschantret and Denison Cabral are current memebrs of the U.S. Men's National Futsal Team and both organize Futsal leagues. Devin Payton has also played on the US Men's National Futsal Team and organizes his own Futsal league. William Baptista holds numerous Futsal coaching certificates and brings another great Brazilian flare to training sessions. Futsal Referee Certification Courses

Thanks for your interest in becoming a US Futsal referee. We are looking for people who LOVE THE GAME and are very enthusiastic. To become a US Futsal Referee Grade 10, you will need to attend the certification classes and score above 75% on your written exam.

Certification courses for the Entry Level Futsal Referee Clinic (Grade 10), Intermediate Futsal Referee Clinic (Upgrade to Grade 9 or 8), Re-certification Clinic and Advanced Futsal Referee Clinics (Upgrade to 7 and all 6 and 5 referees) will be conducted periodically during the 2007/2008 season.

All referees must register in the Registration Center (see red menu bar above). Please print up a copy of your receipt and bring that with you to the referee clinic.

Types of Futsal Referee Clinics

The Introduction to Futsal Referee's Course is for people WITHOUT a US Soccer Federation Referee Certification and will take 12 hours divided in four days, with a final written exam.
The Entry Level Clinic (Grade 10) is for referees with a Soccer Federation Referee Certification or NISOA Certification. This is a one day 6 hour course with a final written exam.
The Intermediate Clinic is for current Futsal referees requesting an upgrade.
The Re-certification Clinic are for current Futsal referees. This is an annual requirement.

To maintain a Grade 10 status after one year a referee must:

Pass an evaluation based on performance at a good level of quality.
Conclude a 3 hour Re-certification course and a final exam with a score of 75% or higher.

The Recertification clinics:

Cost $15.00 for the clinic. All referees must register in the Registration Center (see red menu bar above). Please print up a copy of your receipt and bring that with you to the referee clinic.
Maintain one year of at least a Grade 10 and attend a 6 hours recertification course and score 75% or higher.
Attend a 10 hour Intermediate Referee Course for Grade 8.
Pass a final exam with a minimum score of 75%.
Pass Formal Assessment at the U-16 level or higher.

Berkeley, California -- In order to improve coaching in Futsal® (five-a-side soccer). U.S. Futsal has teamed up with Futsal Training Systems, LLC, and will launch a new and exciting online service for coaches and players in 2008. Online subscribers will receiving a series of monthly play lists and can receive customized individualized tactical offensive and defensive schemes specific to a coach's needs. The United States Futsal Federation. US Futsal President & CEO Alex J.C. Para signed the agreement in February 2008 and expect the system to be fully functioning by the 23rd Annual National Futsal Championship in July.

Futsal is a five-a-side version of soccer for competition and played on basketball-sized courts, both indoors and out without the use of sidewalls. This exciting and fast paced sport traces back to 1930's and today is played worldwide at every level. The U.S. Youth Soccer Association (USYSA) and U.S. Futsal signed an agreement in August of 1995 and in 1999, to promote Futsal in all their National State Association as their game of choice for indoor soccer under the auspices of U.S. Futsal.

U.S. FUTSAL & NIKE’S “THE DEADLY 5” FUTSAL^® TOURNAMENT COMES TO SOCCER NATION EXPO WINNERS RECEIVE AUTOMATIC INVITATION TO U.S. FUTSAL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS IN JULY 2008

December 20, 2007 - U.S. FUTSAL and Nike’s “The Deadly 5” Futsal Tournament registration is now open at www.nikesoccer.com/soccernation. The two-day tournament is part of Cal South’s Soccer Nation Expo 2008 on January 5th and 6th and will feature boy’s and girl’s teams in the U12, U14, U16 and U19 categories. This tournament is the Southwestern regional qualifier for the U.S. Futsal National Championships in Baltimore in July 2008.

For teams to register, players must visit and fill out a registration form for their team and pay the $100 entrance fee. Players must also fill out a waiver that they must turn in to the tournament officials the day of the tournament. CIF players may participate. Registration deadline is January 3 at midnight.

ANAHEIM, California -- The 22nd USFF National Championship concluded Sunday, July 15th after four days of intense and exciting competition. Eighteen State Associations where present from seven Regions, making this the most representative of all National Championships to date. The credit belongs to the State Associations and to the organizers of the Regional Tournaments, said Alex Para, President of U.S. Futsal. The final game of the competition was in the men’s division, won by Utah United over World United, by a score of 5-4. With the growth of Futsal accelerating so rapidly over the last five years, so has this competition. Utah United came back from a three goal deficit in the last 7 minutes to regain the crown that they lost two years ago. In the women's open category, “SoCal Futsal” from California Futsal South won its fourth consecutive title. Team Manager and Coach Garett Hojisho has been a devoted supporter of Futsal since his team first competed in the National Championship 6 years ago.
